BOTOX IN RICHMOND, TX

SERVING RICHMOND, KATY AND SW HOUSTON.

Botox is the commercial name of a neurotoxin called onabotulinum toxin.

It is a protein that is elaborated by Clostridium botulinum. The toxin has the effect at the neuromuscular junction where the muscle is locally paralyzed to prevent movement and eliminate wrinkles around the desired area. If the toxin is used to eliminate excessive underarm sweat, the toxin binds the nerves stimulating the glands that are in charge of the production of sweat. As a result, hyperhidrosis is decreased, or eliminated, depending by each individual’s reaction to the local administration of the toxin. Recently, there have been studies that have used the toxin to treat patients with chronic migraine headaches. Patients who are treated report a cut down of the total number of days they have migraines and other types of headaches, and more pain-free days each month. The way that Botox work for migraine headaches is through the blocking of chemicals called neurotransmitters that carry pain signals from our brains. The toxin acting as a roadblock stops the chemicals from getting to the nerve endings around the head and neck. Xeomin is another type of product, that is also a toxin, and has the same mechanism of action as Botox. The only difference is that there may be a need for a greater concentration to achieve desired results.

Dermal Fillers

A dermal filler is a gel-like substance that is injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines, soften creases or enhance facial contours. Fillers can be made with hyaluronic acid (HA), calcium hydroxylapatite(CaHA), poly-l-lactic acid, and polymethylmethacrylate(PMMA). HA and CaHA are naturally occurring substances of our body. The consistency of these fillers is typically a soft gel. HA usually lasts for 6-12 months and CaHA lasts for 12 months in most patients. Poly-L-lactic acid and PMMA are biocompatible substances that are safe to use in our body. These fillers are usually used to treat deeper facial wrinkles and results last for more than 2 years.

I’ve visited this wellness clinic for several things but my favorite has been the PRP therapy for my knee. PRP is a great alternative for surgery for ligament and tendon issues. I highly recommend this wellness clinic. They have a lot to offer with a friendly environment.
