MICRONEEDLING WITH PRP

Collagen Induction Therapy for Younger Skin

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?

A handheld Microneedling pen that contains tiny micro-needles is passed over the skin creating tiny micro-wounds, or channels, in the skin. During the body’s natural wound-healing process of these channels, collagen and elastin are produced. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is derived from an individual’s own blood and contains highly concentrated amounts of natural growth factors and other cytokines (small proteins that are important in cell signaling) that promote the regeneration process of soft tissues. The PRP is applied directly to the channels that were created by the micro-needling to further stimulate the natural healing process and creation of collagen leading to firmer, clearer and brighter skin!

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH MICRONEEDLING?

BEFORE
Discontinue NSAIDS, acne medications and topical retinoids, such as Ibuprofen, Accutane, Mederma or Retinol for at least 2 weeks. Avoid unprotected and excessive sun exposure or tanning for at least 2 weeks. Arrive to your appointment bare-faced (you may cleanse your face but avoid wearing makeup or moisturizer), and drink plenty of water the day before and of to ensure a smooth blood draw and healthy recovery!

DURING

A small amount of blood will be drawn then put into a centrifuge, which is a tool that separates the PRP and PPP (Platelet Poor Plasma) from the blood. A topical anesthetic is then applied to reduce the chances of discomfort. Once the separation of PRP and PPP process is completed, you will be escorted into the procedure room where the skin is prepped, and treatment begins. Immediately after your treatment, PPP is applied to act as a protecting sealant, aiding in the healing process. This fast-drying natural serum, or as we like to refer as “Liquid gold”, will be sent home with you to be kept in the fridge for up to 2 weeks and used.

AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Post-treatment, your skin will be pink and feel slightly sunburned. You can go back to work or school after the procedure if you’re comfortable.

Simply cleanse once a day and moisturize as needed. Use proper sun protection and avoid alcohol-based products and exfoliants during the recovery stage. If desired, after 24 hours follow with a lightweight foundation or powder to minimize redness. Avoid applying too many products on your skin.

For most people, complete recovery takes 24-72 hours. Your body’s collagen production usually takes about 4-8 weeks, so you will continue to see improvements over this time.

Individuals suffering from chronic joint pain who haven’t found relief through conventional methods are all great candidates for this procedure. PRP treatments are also a great option for those individuals wanting to avoid invasive treatment and long recovery times that are associated with surgery.

Most PRP patients see considerable improvement within 5 to 10 days of the first treatment, but for long-lasting, optimal results, we recommend having three PRP sessions. Multiple sessions should be scheduled 5 to 6 weeks apart for optimal results. (Written by Leo, Please check for proper grammar, syntax, etc)

Because each patient is injected with their own platelets, any adverse reactions are unlikely. Having said that, as with any other minimally-invasive procedure, a very small risk of infection does exist. At New You, we are equipped with the experience and expertise that help keep those risks to a minimum.

Most patients usually begin noticing changes and decreased pain in the troubled area in as little as 5 to 10 days. However, this ultimately depends on the patient and the condition being treated.

Because the PRP treatment is a low-risk, minimally invasive procedure, patients can expect to return to work and daily routines immediately after, as long as their condition permits.
